Plan A was all about discovering the world while sailing. Muy despacito. Thank the gods for plan B, with the B of Bonaire. 

So instead of dancing in Cartagena, we are now “noodling” twice a week with our neighbors. Yes, you are right. In spite of the occasional turtle swimming by and in spite of the fact that we are sometimes swept away by the current, it does smell rather like senior Club Med spirit.

The locals on the other hand practice far more energetic sports, which we enthusiastically applaud. Now that we know how to upload the video, enjoy the crazy windsurfers being pulled by a jetski until the perfect speed is reached for a 360 degrees emergency stop. It is far from noodling.

Recently, we have helped out Echo Foundation Bonaire with their bi-annual Parrot count, frightfully early on a Saturday morning. Happy to confirm that the yellow shouldered Amazon parrot is still thriving here in Bonaire. 

And on Wednesday afternoon we like to stare up through sunny tree-leaves as we are stretched out on our outdoor yoga mat. In the evening you might find us at the outdoor bar of Kant Awa where we sometimes join our neighbors in welcoming the new sailors that have successfully completed their quarantine. (Sailors need to obey a 14 day period of isolation on their vessels while KLM flies the crowd straight in. That’s why we keep our distance again.)

But if happiness is a cookie that the brain bakes for itself, a lot of premium cooking has been going on in our blissfully ignorant cerebellum lately. And to top it all: look who’s here , carrying his Covid free certificate, his underwater camera gear and his badly needed coral friendly sunscreen lotion. 

The wonders of the deep are unfolding their secrets one by one as together we slowly sink below the surface. On today’s dive, the spotted moray eel followed our every move while the sleepy turtle in its underwater cave didn’t even blink an eye.
